Adafruit PN532 NFC/RFID Controller Shield for Arduino + Extras (A-789) (4B2)

This is an NFC/RFID reader that can plug into an Arduino. Build your own remote-access system, or use as a switch to change something when different tags are read. It works for both NFC tags (e.g. those in some Android phones) OR RFID cards (like the  white access cards many employers use, that say HID on them).

Note: You will need an Arduino.  Some soldering will be required to attach the headers that plug into the Arduino.
